Compensation at PetWow

At PetWow we pay our doctors well. Of course, incoming pay will vary depending upon the working experience of the applicant. Nevertheless, we make every effort to pay our doctors a better rate than they can get elsewhere in our region, in accord with their past experience. When combined with our rich benefit package (please review our benefit package in detail to see all that is provided), PetWow’s overall total compensation for doctors is simply hard to beat. From time to time we do hire doctors who are only seeking part-time work. However, most new doctors seek full time employment. We have two different compensation structures for full-time employment depending upon the number of hours a doctor is interested in working:

Standard Work-Week Compensation:

  • Some veterinarians desire a more traditional work schedule in order to maximize time available for family or personal interests. Hence, PetWow offers a traditional compensation package based on a traditional 45 hour average work week. In this scenario PetWow formally schedules the doctor for 40 hours of work, which realistically results in something closer to an average 45hr per week spent at work, due to follow up calls and other common end of day veterinary tasks.

Enhanced Work-Week Compensation:

  • Other veterinarians are happy to work longer hours for additional pay. Accordingly, PetWow offers an enhanced work-week compensation option based on a 55 hr. average work week. In this scenario PetWow formally schedules the doctor for 50 hours of work per week, which realistically results in something closer to an average 55 hr. per week of work, due to follow-up calls and other common end of day veterinary tasks.

Contract

At PetWow we do enter into a formal contract agreement with our veterinary associates. The contract serves three primary purposes. Firstly, the contract clearly details all compensation and benefit agreements which constitute the doctor's "Total Compensation". Secondly, the contract establishes a minimal non-compete clause which simply protects PetWow (for a limited period of time) against a veterinarian setting up shop just down the road from one of our locations after having gotten to know all of our clientele. The third purpose of the contract is simply to gain an agreement from the doctor to give PetWow extended notice before leaving the company. The reason for this is simply that it can take some time to fill a veterinary position, and having the extended departure notice helps our organization refill the position without extensive loss of revenue. Of course, the contract also protects the doctor from any sudden severance by PetWow.
