Taking care of those who help us take care of others is crucial to our success. PetWow’s current benefit portfolio for veterinarians is as follows:   


Signing Bonus or Moving Stipend

Upon signing an initial 1 year (or longer) veterinary contract, PetWowissues newly hired veterinarians a $1,000.00 signing bonus which can often be helpful in providing immediate cash to assist with a job transition or re-location costs.  


Health Insurance

Health Insurance Contribution

PetWowoffers full time veterinarians a health insurance benefit that increases with length of employment.PetWowwill contribute $350.00/month toward the health insurance premium costs of veterinarians. Depending upon length of employment,PetWow's health insurance benefit contribution for veterinarians may increase through contract negotiations.

Plan Flexibility

Since different veterinarians in different stages of life and with different family situations often desire widely varying forms of health insurance coverage,PetWowencourages its veterinarians to obtain a personal health insurance plan that best suits their specific needs. Upon proof that the veterinarian has an active health insurance plan,PetWowwill add its monthly health insurance contribution to the veterinarian's gross pay.

 


Dental Insurance

PetWow offers its veterinarians participation in PetWow’s robust group dental plan through Dental Care Plus. Premium rates are substantially lower than can be gained by an individual in the private market due to the group nature of PetWow’s dental plan. Moreover, the premiums themselves are tax-free (payroll deducted). The discounted group rate in combination with the tax-free premium payments, make PetWow's group dental plan very attractive.


Vision Insurance

PetWow offers its veterinarians participation in PetWow’s robust group vision plan through Avesis Vision. Premium rates are substantially lower than can be gained by an individual in the private market due to the group nature of PetWow’s vision plan. Moreover, the premiums themselves are tax-free (payroll deducted). The discounted group rate in combination with the tax-free premium payments, make PetWow's group vision plan very attractive.


Short Term Disability Insurance

PetWow offers it veterinarians participation in PetWow’s robust group short term disability plan through Assurant Insurance. Group short term disability protects your income in the case of a disability for up to 13 weeks. In addition, premium rates are substantially lower than can be gained by individuals in the private market due to the group nature of PetWow’s short term disability plan. Many people insure their car or their home, or even their life in the event of death. And yet perhaps the largest risk that most people face is that they may lose their source of income in the case of developing a disability which prevents them from working. 


Long Term Disability Insurance

PetWow offers veterinarians participation in PetWow’s 100% EMPLOYER PAID group long term disability plan through Assurant Insurance. Group long term disability protects your income in the case of a disability beginning 90 days from a disability occurence until one can either return to work, or else social security retirement age is reached. In addition, premium rates are substantially lower than can be gained by individuals in the private market due to the group nature of PetWow’s long term disability plan. Many people insure their car or their home, or even their life in the event of death. And yet perhaps the largest risk that most people face is that they may lose their source of income in the case of developing a disability which prevents them from working. 


Retirement Plan

PetWowwill contribute – dollar for dollar – up to three (3) percent of any veterinarian’s wages toward their personal retirement account, after the veterinarian has worked a minimum of two years with the organization. Veterinarians who elect to enroll inPetWow’s retirement plan may contribute as much as 6% of their own income into their retirement account (although the company “matches” up to 3%). All monies placed into each veterinarian's retirement account are tax-free. In this way, a veterinarian has the potential to have as much as 9% of their annual income saved in a tax-deferred retirement account (6% by their own contribution and 3% from the company). Moreover, the retirement account belongs exclusively to the veterinarian and may be managed in any way he or she sees fit. Finally, each veterinarian's retirement account – as well as any monies contributed or earned - remains their own, even if they leavePetWow(i.e. no vestiture).


Paid Vacation

All full-time veterinarians receive paid vacation beginning after 6 months of employment with our organization. New veterinarians typically begin with two full weeks (10 days) of paid vacation for their first year of employment. Paid vacation coverage typically increases thereafter with extended employment up to a limit of 3 full weeks (15 days) paid vacation.


Paid Holidays

All full time veterinarians receive holiday pay beginning after 6 months of employment with our organization. This means that after a veterinarian's 6th month of employment, they will be paid for allPetWow-recognized holidays, as if they had worked. The holiday’s whichPetWow recognizes (and during whichPetWow is closed) are: New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.


Paid Sick Days

After their initial 6 months of employment with PetWow, all full time veterinarians are allotted 3 paid sick days per year. 


Continuing Education: Paid Time Off and Spending Allowance

Paid CE Days:
Since both Kentucky and Ohio continuing education requirements must be fulfilled di-annually (every two years), after their initial 6 months of employment with PetWow, full time veterinarians are allotted 4 paid continuing education days di-annually.

CE Spending Stipend:
In addition, PetWow provides each full time veterinarian with a $1,800.00 CE spending allowance to be used for registrations or other continuing education related expenses on a di-annual (every two-year) basis.


Professional Liability Insurance Paid

PetWow pays for the cost of a Professional Liability policy for each of its veterinarians. The policy protects not only the business, but each individual veterinarian, against liability suit damages. Every veterinarian is covered up to $1,000,000.00 per incident and up to $2,000,000.00 aggregate per year.


Kentucky State Veterinary License Paid

PetWow pays for each full time veterinarian’s Kentucky veterinary license renewal throughout their employment with PetWow.


Ohio State Veterinary License Paid

PetWow pays for each full time veterinarian’s Ohio veterinary license renewal throughout their employment with PetWow.


DEA License Paid

PetWow pays for each full time veterinarian’s Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license renewal throughout their employment with PetWow.


State Veterinary Association Dues Paid (1 State)

For each full time veterinarian, PetWow pays for the cost of annual membership in one state veterinary association of the veterinarian’s choice.


AVMA Dues Paid

For each full time veterinarian, PetWow pays for the cost of annual membership in the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).


AFLAC Supplemental Insurances

PetWow offers its veterinarians access to several supplemental insurance coverages through AFLAC (American Family Life Assurance Company). All premiums for such elective coverages are paid through pre-tax payroll deductions and enjoy the advantage of group premium discount rates, making such coverages very affordable. The specific supplemental coverages offered are:  

  • Accident Insurance
  • Hospitalization Insurance
  • Lump Sum Critical Illness Insurance

Uniform Paid for and Provided

PetWow pays for 3 sets of scrub tops and scrub pants, as well as a veterinary lab jacket (if the doctor desires one) for all veterinarians.


Annual Shoe Allowance

All veterinarians receive an annual shoe allowance of up-to $75.00 beginning after their 6th month of employment. Veterinarians need only purchase whichever work shoes they choose, and then turn in the purchase receipt to PetWow management to be re-imbursed for their purchase up-to $75.00 (note: if a shoe purchase is under $75.00, PetWow will simply pay the full price of the shoe purchase).


PetWow Staff Discount

All PetWow staff members are provided with a staff account which enables them to receive our full range of pet related services and products at company cost. For those staff member's with pets of their own, this can amount to many hundreds of dollars of savings per year!


Direct Deposit & Bi-Weekly Pay

At PetWow, all staff members are paid on a bi-weekly basis and payroll checks are always delivered via Direct Deposit. This means that you are paid in the fastest, safest, and most secure way possible. Some of the benefits of Direct Deposit are as follows:

  • Your payroll monies are accessible to you far quicker than with physical checks
  • You get to decide which account you want your paycheck deposited into (and can change it at will)
  • You have the option to have your paycheck deposited among multiple checking or savings accounts

Paycor SmartPhone & Online Payroll Access

PetWow partners with Paycor to provide staff members with instant access to payroll information. Staff members can view check stubs online, view their past payroll history, check remaing paid time-off allowances, make time-off requests, initiate changes to their name or tax status online, and much more. In addition, staff members with smartphones can download Paycor's Mobile App to access most of these features through their smartphone. Below are the key features of Paycor's online employee access: 

  • View paycheck details including earnings, deductions, taxes and year-to-date totals.
  • Use the employee directory to contact co-workers via work phone or email and add to your contacts.
